Creativity Unleashed During Free Youth Sculpture Build!

Transform Ideas into Art: Creative Hands-On Sculpture For Youth

Rocky Mountain Arts community youth sculpture build began September 28 of 2024…

This multi-faceted project began last fall in Norwood and was free to all participants. RMA provided all tools, materials, safety gear, and lunch every program day. We had to pause the build due to freezing temps. And, then the project had to move to a new location in Norwood. The project is still being built and is expected to be completed by end of August. The unveiling event is scheduled for September 6 in Norwood Town Park. If you would like information about the event, email:  erin@rockymountainarts.org.

“We have worked to inspire, teach, build self-confidence and offer youth a place to express themselves during this creative process. Our goals are to reach the under-served communities in San Miguel and the West End of Montrose Counties to join in the creation of a large-scale, outdoor sculpture,” Explains Erin Ries, Executive Director.

Norwood Colorado Town Park is where this completed sculpture creation will remain on permanent display.

The 2023 youth created sculpture can be viewed at Volunteer Park in Nucla, CO.

The 2024 workshop was made possible through generous support from Alpine Bank, CCAASE, Just For Kids, and Sessions Family Foundation.

The youth mural project began on September 13, 2025 in Naturita, CO at Paradox Cycle and was finished on September 27. Brock Benson, owner of Paradox Cycle, chose a diversity theme with cows on bicycles and the words: See Beyond Colors. All Are Welcome. Many community members participated—teachers, parents, and youth of all ages. The celebratory event will be October 18, 3-5pm at Paradox Cycle.
