Want to learn how to fly?

Come get your feet off the ground with Alpine Aerial Acrobatics! In this free hour- long workshop you will learn the basics of aerial fabrics (silks), aerial hoop (lyra) and hopefully get upside down. With us, you will learn fundamental skills of each apparatus and be able to perform a short routine! This class is designed to support people of all skill levels while safely challenging out bodies in artistic expression.
Those interested should bring water and be prepared for a workout! Fitted, stretchy clothing that covers legs, midriff, and arms is highly recommended.

Your instructors
Val Russell has spent more than 20 years teaching pilates, yoga, and aerial arts. An acclaimed circus-arts performer herself, she also owns and manages Alpine Aerial Acrobatics, a circus-arts school and performance company in Durango. Val has a deep appreciation for the trapeze and working with individuals with previous injury or limited abilities to gain confidence in the air!
Ashley Higgs began her circus life in 2010 at the Detroit Fly House out of Detroit, MI. With almost 5 years of practice, she joined the Detroit Circus troupe in performances for a year before taking a step back from aerial. It was then that Ashley discovered her love for the dragon staff and all things fire! After moving to Mancos, CO in 2016 Ashley was inspired once again and joined Alpine Aerial Acrobatics in 2021 where she now acts as substitute teacher and teaching assistant!
