Treasures, Creativity & Lots of Fun at Our Free Treasure Box Workshop!

This past May, Rocky Mountain Arts was delighted to host a free Treasure Box Workshop at The Wheel House in Illium on May 2 and 9. Nine creative young artists joined us for the fun-filled sessions, and the results were nothing short of fabulous!

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, some students designed their treasure boxes especially for Mom, while others created special boxes to keep and treasure for themselves. We supplied everything the artists needed to let their imaginations run wild — colorful tiles, beads, paint, glue, decorative objects, and plenty of creative possibilities!

Each student took a unique approach to their project. Some had fun painting and gluing decorative objects onto their boxes, while others focused on creating beautiful designs inside and out. No two treasure boxes were alike, and every finished creation reflected the personality and imagination of the young artist who made it.

It was wonderful to see the kids experimenting with color, texture, patterns, and materials while enjoying the simple pleasure of making something with their own hands. And, of course, there was plenty of fun and laughter along the way!

We are so grateful to The Wheel House in Illium for providing a welcoming space for this workshop and to all nine students who brought their creativity and enthusiasm. We love seeing what happens when young people are given the time, materials, and encouragement to create.

Thank you to Sarah Lewiecki and Rob Nealan for helping to make this free community art experience such a success. We can’t wait for our next creative adventure!

Keep creating, keep imagining, and keep making treasures!

…what a great weekend it was. Dan and Keith were fabulous instructors and the group was all so engaged and fun to be with. Would love to keep in touch. Thanks for your efforts to put all this together. I was inspired. —Terry Tice

The two-day beginner welding workshop held this past weekend resulted in a team created sculpture with flame effects that put a smile on everyone’s face. And, each participant had time to make a masterpiece of their own to take home as well.

Rocky Mountain Arts gave scholarships to two True North Youth Program students with the support of Alpine Bank.

One student has requested an internship as a result of the time spent with our incredible instructors, Keith D’Angelo and Dan Gundrum.
